Seattle, WA; July 26, 2021 – PayNW is pleased to announce that we have selected Seattle Foundation’s Fund for Inclusive Recovery as the recipient of our Pennies for Paychecks program funds for 2021.
“The launch of the Fund for Inclusive Recovery is a collective philanthropic effort to raise and deploy $50 million over the next five years as we bridge from relief to reinvention. It is guided by a Community Advisory Group, consisting of local BIPOC leaders working to accelerate our region’s ability to overcome the devastating health and economic impacts of COVID-19 and rebuild towards a more just society,” says Kris Hermanns, Chief Impact Officer of Seattle Foundation. “We can’t do this alone – it will take all of us pulling together. Seattle Foundation is thrilled to have PayNW’s Pennies for Paychecks partnership in and program support for this effort to build a better, stronger, and more equitable future for our region,” concludes Hermanns.
In searching for a partner to give shape to our charitable ambitions, PayNW sought a partner to help maximize the impact of our Pennies for Paychecks charitable giving initiative. Says Mike Anderson, Founder and CEO of PayNW, “We knew what we wanted to do – contribute some of our corporate resources to improve the lives of the most vulnerable and marginalized in our community – but we also knew we needed help to do it well. That’s where the Seattle Foundation came in.”
For 75 years, the Seattle Foundation has worked with philanthropists and community partners to ignite powerful, rewarding philanthropy to make Greater Seattle a stronger, more vibrant community for all. “They definitely have the know-how and deep community relationships to get the resources to where they are most needed, have the greatest impact, and align with our corporate values of diversity, equity and inclusion,” adds Mr. Anderson. “And there is a nice parallel with how we work with our clients – we contribute our tools and expertise to our clients’ ambitions to achieve superior outcomes that wouldn’t be possible if we worked alone.”
PayNW’s Pennies for Paychecks program donates two cents for every paycheck processed by PayNW. Whether it’s a physical check, direct deposit, or a pay card, two cents are donated by PayNW to the Fund for Inclusive Recovery, which seeks to make the greater Seattle area a stronger, more vibrant community for all. As PayNW grows, so does the program, and with Seattle Foundation’s help, so does the impact for good.
PayNW Chief Financial Officer, Dave Christensen points out. “As CFO, I want to make sure that wherever we apply our resources, we are leveraging them for maximum value. Our charitable giving program is important to us, and I can’t think of a more effective way of doing this than working in collaboration with Seattle Foundation.”
