PayNorthwest is honored to support Community Employment Alliance whose mission is to advocate, educate, and partner for employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Originally founded in 1974 as Rehabilitation Enterprises of Washington, the organization is a non-profit with a membership network of businesses and employment service providers for people with disabilities throughout Washington State.
Phil Harmon, our Director of Business Development, was among the speaker line-up at their Spring Employment Conference held in Grand Mound, Wash. this week with a presentation entitled Managing Change. Director of Operations Lori Brown also participated in the event by speaking about the multiple functionality of the PayNorthwest Lumina platform.
Extraordinary efforts have been made to improve job opportunities for people with disabilities. Yet, their unemployment rate remains dishearteningly high. Fortunately, new and promising ideas are being tried with great success to recruit more employees with disabilities, convince more employers of the value of hiring those with disabilities, and secure more help from government to make these moves possible. When the organizations that serve this population work together, we speak with one, powerful voice to encourage these positive changes. We can also learn from each other about the best ways to make our organizations thrive and serve people with disabilities as effectively as possible.
